Beyond The Studio: Social Justice Trainings For Movement teachers

Beyond the Studio:
Social Justice Trainings for Movement Teachers

We are happy to announce the second year of our Beyond the Studio Training Series! This year we are offering four trainings around creating inclusive and accessible movement classrooms with an intersectional lens of disability, gender and sexuality justice. Our training partners are Gregory Dorado and Carina Ho (Disability Justice/Integrated Dance) and Kattoris Bang (Discourse on Gender for Educators).

While these trainings are designed for dance instructors, they can be applied to yoga, fitness, and other physical activities for all ages. All sessions are free, open to any teaching artist, and take place over Zoom. Each topic will be covered in two parts, first in December 2022 and second in March 2023. The March sign-ups will open in early 2023.

Trainings are made possible with a grant from Degree’s Breaking Limits program. Participants will have the option to take additional online training modules produced by Degree and receive a $25 gift card for participation.

Schedule & Details

Applied Practice - Gender Trainings for Educators
with indee mitchell and Nia Faulk of Kattoris Bang

Applied Practice - Date TBD

A workshop on gender specifically for teachers and educators wanting to provide safer space in their classrooms for trans and gender non conforming students. In this moment where our State legislature continues to wage war against our trans and queer youth both on the field and in the classroom, Kattoris Bang provides participants with vital knowledge and skills that better prepares educators to address various forms of gender based harm and violence against trans and gender non conforming youth in their classrooms.
