Land Acknowledgement

Dancing Grounds acknowledges the origins of the land that we call home. Located at 3705 St. Claude Avenue, Dancing Grounds sits on land once occupied and cared for by the Chahta Yakni (Choctaw) and Chitimacha Tribes of Louisiana. We also recognize the free labor of enslaved people that built this country, our state of Louisiana, and our city of New Orleans. With this statement, we also honor those families who are deeply rooted in our beautiful city, oftentimes for generations, who have been priced out or forced out of their homes, businesses and neighborhoods. We know that a land acknowledgment does not undo any pain brought to these communities. What is not named cannot be faced. This statement is just one act of many we can take towards justice and liberation.
