Jasmin Simmons-Edmond

Jasmin Simmons-Edmond, an accomplished dancer and dynamic non-profit professional, brings a wealth of experience and passion to her new role as Creative Director at Dancing Grounds. Formally trained in dance at NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts) and SUNY Purchase (State University of New York), Jasmin has traveled the world, performing with renowned dance companies such as KM Dance Project, Jamal Jackson Dance Company and The Francesca Harper Project.

Beyond the stage, Jasmin is dedicated to sharing the transformative power of dance and culture. Her love for dance education began in New Orleans, where she worked with Young Audiences and Wolf Trap of Louisiana, emphasizing self expression and Southern culture in her curriculum. At The Dalton School in New York, Jasmin's role as a Teaching Fellow and part-time Dance faculty member allowed her to build community within the arts, creating engaging presentations and cultural education assemblies centered around the black American experience.

Being one of the founding teachers during the living room days of Dancing Grounds, Jasmin is honored to hold this new position as the organizations continues to evolve. In her previous position as Adult Programs Manager at Dancing Grounds, Jasmin showcased her ability to foster diverse programming and establish meaningful community partnerships, expanding the organization's impact. Now, stepping into the role of Creative Director, Jasmin envisions leveraging her experiences as a cultural bearer, daughter of the city, mother, and artist to contribute invaluable insights to the organization. With a rich history in dance, including choreographing for AMC's Interview with a Vampire and appearing in Jon Baptist’s Netflix documentary American Symphony, Jasmin's unique blend of discipline, creativity, technical training, and cultural knowledge will undoubtedly shape and inspire Dancing Grounds' creative vision under her leadership.
