Jakki Kalogridis

Jakki Kalogridis (she/they) is a disabled dancer, choreographer, visual artist, and writer. She holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BFA in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. 

Jakki worked as a costume designer for many years in North Carolina and later New Orleans, creating work for private clients, dancers and choreographers, burlesque and drag performers, and award-winning musical artists. Her work has been featured at New Orleans Fashion Week and she was awarded New Orleans Fashion Designer of the year in a RAW showcase in 2014. She founded New Orleans Colorguard Arts in 2016, which offered programs teaching colorguard and dance through studio classes and workshops, a parading krewe, and stage recitals for local performers to showcase their talents. 

Jakki currently performs with Mélange Dance Company and collaborates with sound designers, musicians, and other artists to produce new performance works. Her choreography has been featured in the Versipel New Music spring 2023 concert in collaboration with composer Mendel Lee, in the collaborative film Elements organized by Kirsten Hedegaard, and at the 2023 Space Station Residency in St Louis.
